Rockefeller Plaza has been turned into Humanity Plaza for five days, the week of September 26th.
Artists from Warner Music Group's Atlantic and Warner Bros. Records are partnering with NBC and Habitat for Humanity International to build frames for houses for families affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Check the above link for the details.
Kudos for all those in the area or on the way to help work for re-building the Gulf Coast, one "frame" at a time. With so much of the reconstruction/rebuilding effort going so terribly wrong with no-bid contracts and additional government looters all on their way to seize the South, this is a refreshing breath of good old on-the-ground volunteer work.
Is NYC a great city, or what?? This is exactly what we needed.
From those of us who call Louisiana "home," to those who may have passed through, visited, or remember its former beauty and charm, a big Merci Bien.
While many have relocated after the devastation and others left long ago, those who remain have a sturdy, undefeated strength that will re-build and renew the cultural spirit that has survived, despite natural, domestic, economic, and political attacks.
